They are 100% hand made by a local family, who has been working in the production of jícaras for decades. A mother, her daughter, and other members of the family gather the jícaras from the trees, empty them, dry them in the sun, and make these beautiful designs all by hand. By buying this jícaras you are supporting this hardworking Guatemalan family, who have dedicated themselves to continue this tradition for many years, and are very excited to see theIr cups starting to travel around the world.

I ordered two jicaras. Very happy with one of them. The other one (photo included) has a purple growth around the inside. I don’t think it’s mold but these are natural products and very porous and they have travelled a long way to get to me in England. I have not been able to rid the cup of this purple growth even with vinegar. So remember to bear this in mind when ordering. Natural product.

I got a set of cups for a recent workshop. It is very special that these gourds grow near the cacao trees and are apart of the biodiverse farm/land. I wash them by hand with hot water and a scrub brush. They truly enhance the cacao drinking experience!

I drank other ceremonial cacao before but i like the taste of the Mayan Wisdom cacao the most because it tastes like chocolat without sugar in it and i can put natural sugars in it like dades and honey. I also see, hear, feel Mama Cacao's guidance more clearly. The energy is soft and loving. Drinking in a jicara makes the journey even intenser. When i hold my jicara with the cacao in it the magic starts to happen in a more intenser way. Like the energy spreads from my cup to the whole World. I love it and i am going to order more cacao to continue my journey with Mama Cacao. Much love Saskia

Using the Jicaras add to the magic of Cacao! They're full of life, and it feels like the Cacao absorbs into your body easier. They fit perfectly in your hand too! The only thing I would recommend is to have something to hold them in place while you pour. Maltiox!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
The jicaras are the perfect size and are very beautiful. They come with the baskets, which made it very easy to hold the jicaras. Overall, I am very pleased with them!

I love these beautiful jicaras - they feel just right in my hand, hold just the perfect amount of cacao, and feel magical and help me fall into the moment. The design is lovely to look at as well. They really are natural gourds so the shapes are really different. I have two and one can sit on the ground on its own and the other is pretty pointy and doesn't really even sit in the wicker basket so well.
I am grateful for my friend who introduced me to the Maya wiedom project. I have taken the cacao challenges and bought several items, one of which are these most beautifully carved chicaras. thank you!

There's nothing like drinking cacao (or water!) from one of these jicaras. So beautiful, they feel wonderful in my hands. Drinking water from them tastes so special and makes me think of drinking from a spring. I keep ordering more! ❤️

Love these Jicaras, can’t wait to use them for my Cacao Ceremony
The cup is very cute. Smaller than i expected. The opening is also small so I find it quite difficult to drink from so I use to to put my sacred cacao into to offer to Gaia. It is now her special cup. It doesn't fit into the little basket it came with so I have to be carful when pour the cacao into it that it does not spill over. I have modified the basket with paper and fabric to nestle the cup better.
