Our Story
The Mayan Market was born from the vision and dedication of Solveig Barrios amd her husband Martin.
Solveig grew up in the heart of Maya communities in Guatemala. Inspired by the profound teachings of her father, the esteemed Maya spiritual leader Carlos Barrios, she first created The Mayan Wisdom Project to empower Maya communities and share their incredible knowledge with the world.
The Mayan Market was established to uplift Indigenous artisans and highlight the rich traditions of Maya craftsmanship, including weaving and other artisanal skills. Through their efforts, Solveig and Martin connect skilled artisans with a global audience, ensuring that these treasured traditions are preserved for future generations.
